What Types of Heart Disease Are There?
Coronary heart disease is the failure of heart circulation to give adequate circulation to all the cardiac muscles and the surrounding tissue. This is in fact the most common form type of heart disease and one of the leading causes of premature death. Some of the causes of this would include smoking, hypertension, diabetes and hyperlipidemia.
Cardiomyopathy is actually a disease of the heart muscles. This is characterized by a deterioration of the functioning capacity of the myocardium or heart muscle. Anyone who suffers from this will be at risk of arrhythmia or sudden cardiac death. There are in fact two types of this disease which are extrinsic and intrinsic. The most common type of extrinsic would be Ishemic cardiomyopathy. Some of the causes of intrinsic cardiomyopathy are drugs, alcohol, certain infections and genetics.
Cardiovascular disease is in fact another umbrella term that will incorporate all diseases that affect the cardiovascular system. Even though this is the case this term is commonly used to refer to arterial diseases. These diseases will usually be the ones that affect the veins leading to and from the heart. There are some known causes of this condition and they include diabetes mellitus, hyperchomocysteinemia, hypertension and hypercholesterolemia. One of the diseases included in this class is artherosclerosis.
Heart failure is another type of disease where the heart cannot supply the body with enough blood. Heart failure is actually rather common but can be a deadly condition. There are a vast number of symptoms that are associated with heart failure and they will include shortness of breath, swelling of the ankles, coughing and intolerance to exercise. Unfortunately this condition will often be undiagnosed as there is no medical consensus on definition. The most common treatment for this condition will be to have a change in lifestyle.
Hypertension heart disease is a kind that is caused due to high blood pressure. This will be worst if the person suffers from localized high blood pressure. There are many other conditions that will cause this problem including coronary heart disease, heart failure, cardiac arrhythmias, left ventricular hypertrophy and hypertension cardiomyopathy.
